School

The academic year starts in May and ends in March, with a break in October.

The comprehensive curriculum focuses on Thai language, mathematics, science, social science, religion, and culture. Many schools also offer additional languages, arts, and physical education. Most instruction is in Thai. Schools often have strict dress codes, including uniforms that all students wear.

Thai culture places a high value on respect, particularly towards teachers and elders, and the school canteens provide an opportunity to try a variety of Thai dishes.

Family

Thai families are typically close-knit, with extended family members often living together or nearby. This strong family bond is central to Thai culture.

Respect for elders is a fundamental value. Children are taught from a young age to honour their parents, grandparents, and other older family members, often demonstrated through the traditional Thai greeting, the wai.

Families in Thailand are often involved in community activities, and social gatherings are common.

Teenagers enjoy a variety of leisure activities, including watching movies, eating out, playing sports, and shopping at malls. Traditional arts and cultural practices, such as Thai dance and martial arts, are popular. Friendships are an important part of teenage life.
